To keep current of immediate emergency announcements, we recommend each student and their family members sign-up for various alert systems. For UCSB Alerts, the student will use UCSB NetID to login and add phone numbers to receive alerts. For local and county alert systems, individuals may sign up on their own.

UCSB Food Security Resources
Basic Needs and Food Security have a wide variety of food resources for different needs. Visit the Student Needs Advising Center (SNAC) Office at UCEN next to Jamba Juice to find out more about: CalFresh, food pantries, groceries, and prepared meals. UCSB Halal and Kosher Food Program
The UCSB Halal and Kosher Food Program provides free weekly groceries for students with Halal and Kosher dietary restrictions. The program feeds low income undergrad and graduate students and their families with funding from the UCSB Food Security & Basic Needs Taskforce. Pickup for the Halal and Kosher Program occurs at SNAC (located at the UCen next to Jamba Juice) on Thursdays from 10 am - 6pm Fridays from 10 am - 5 pm. In order to join the program, students must not exceed the low income threshold, keep a Halal or Kosher diet, and submit an application. LOSS OF FOOD Due to Power Outage?
CalFresh recipients who lose food due to power outages (food spoils or rots) may receive replacement benefits to cover the loss of food.
Calfresh Restaurant Meals Program
The Calfresh Restaurant Meals Program allows houseless persons, people with disabilities, and seniors over 60 to purchase prepared meals at participating restaurants using their Calfresh benefits. Santa Barbara County currently does not participate in this program, but students who visit or live in participating counties will be able to utilize it. Current participating counties include: Los Angeles, Sacramento, San Diego, San Francisco, and San Luis Obispo. To find out if a restaurant accepts EBT, look for the "EBT Cards Accepted Here" sign or contact the local county human services office for a list of participating restaurants. Santa Barbara County Food Banks are hosting additional food distributions in order to meet the growing need in the community caused by COVID-19. Many locations offer a drive-thru option to minimize contact, and others are scheduling food pick-up appointments. You may be asked to wear provided hygienic gloves. Free Meals for Anyone 18 Years Old and Younger:IV Elementary Goleta Unified School District Food Services
The IV Elementary Food Distribution occurs on 1st Thursday of each month from 3:30 to 5:30 pm hosted by the IV Youth Project and Santa Barbara Food Bank!
All meals and snacks at schools will continue to be free for all Goleta Union School children and students for the upcoming 2021-2022 school year.
SBUSD Grab & Go Breakfast
and Lunch During school closure, SB Unified is providing complimentary Grab & Go breakfast and lunches to students age 18 and younger at the following sites and times, Monday through Friday 11:30AM - 1:00PM. SBUSD Supper / Dinner via Mobile Food Cafe

UCSB Miramar Food Pantry provides free healthy food to all qualified* UCSB students to ensure Gauchos are food secure! Students can visit the pantry each day it is open.
LOCATION: The Food Pantry is located in the Sierra Madre Villages court located behind the administrative office.
ELIGIBILITY*: The Miramar Food Pantry is available for registered Undergraduate and Graduate students, plus Family Student Housing Partners. To receive food from the Miramar Food Pantry, there are two requirements:

Vegan Food
Food Not Bombs Isla Vista (FNBIV) provides free vegan meals to UCSB students, houseless folks, and other Isla Vista community members five days a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays. They cook 40 meals per day and distribute them on a first-come first-serve basis. FNBIV delivers meals via wagon to Anisq'oyo Park, SB Methodist Church, and Sueno Orchard from approximately 5:30-6:30 pm. On Sundays they also serve an additional 20 stationary meals at Little Acorn Park from 5:30-6:15 pm. Students can learn more about the program and also volunteer by emailing [email protected]. The Isla Vista Youth Project Family Resource Center (FRC) provides CalFresh and Medical assistance, monthly food distribution, emergency food pantry on site, parenting classes and additional resources tailored to family or individual needs. Denny's Kids Eat Free
