The Isla Vista Youth Projects was founded in 1971 in response to community need for programs to serve community children and families. IVYP mitigates the effects of poverty, racism and trauma by providing high-quality, trauma informed child care; comprehensive, culturally sensitive family support; and visionary community leadership.

IVYP Family Advocate

A Family Advocate is warm, accessible, organized and empathetic. The Family Advocate works with Goleta Valley families to promote their health, academic success, and well-being and to reduce family stressors so that parents can support their children’s preparation for Kindergarten and school success. Additionally, this position will engage in focused outreach. She or he assists in the coordination of social services for children and families in the Goleta Valley, and engages in all the work of the Family Resource Center. A can-do attitude, perseverance and ability to work with diverse populations are critical to success in this position. The Family Advocate will be working under the supervision of the Family Resource Program Manager.
