The CSO Safety Escort Program is a free service provided to all students, faculty and community members during the evening and early morning hours. The safety escort service is based on the "buddy" system and the objective is to provide a safer mode of transportation through campus and Isla Vista. This is accomplished by sending Community Service Officers to walk or bike with you to your destination.

Do Not Tamper with Smoke Detectors

UCSB Housing Terms and Conditions for Fire Safety and Emergency Equipment states that it is a misdemeanor to tamper or interfere
with fire alarm pull stations, smoke and heat detectors, fire extinguishers, hoses, fire sprinkler systems and EXIT signs and lights. Please complete a Get It Fixed online maintenance request or contact the RA On-call (805-451-1660) after-hours, holidays, or weekends.

  • Prevent hazards or injuries during Grounds Days - Wednesdays at Storke and Thursdays at West Campus -  and review the Grounds Wellness & Prevention guidance.
  • Avoid ground stakes and grounds traps throughout FSH property or FSH gardens - that help capture rodents for rodent relocation - by keeping you, your children and/ or ESA clear of staked areas. Current info on traps can be found at FSH Garden website in Announcements or Garden Safety.

Whether you are an assigned plot holder, a resident, or a visitor enjoying the gardens, please help us all work together in keeping this a safe and enjoyable space. All items within plots are property of the assigned gardener. Contact the FSH Garden Coordinators about free items.

  • Make efforts to create community first before calling police, emergency staff or the on-call line for something that can be handled between residents.
    • Be attentive to the social, cultural, and international diversity of our community, where miscommunication or misinterpretation may be minimized while living within FSH.
    • Be considerate of owners with ESAs, and ask permission first before approach resident and animal.
    • Be kind and patient to parents with children as they balance school, family, childcare and/or work.

For UCSB Alerts, the student will use UCSB NetID to login and add phone numbers to receive alerts. For local and county alert systems, individuals may sign on their own.
